                                    Sensei Caporelli

Sensei Caporelli was born in central Italy on May 23, 1933, and came to the United States in 1948. He was always interested in the Martial Arts and was first introduced to Kempo Karate in 1965. After a short while the studio closed down due to the Instructor’s family problems.
Determined to continue, he started a long hard search of many styles, but found none that were pure and classical with a good representation.

While working at Raytheon Co. in Wayland MA he was introduced to Sensei Richard Tomassini who was a student of Master Anthony Mirakian of the Meibukan Goju-Ryu style. After teaching him all he knew, Sensei Tomassini told him that in order to continue he would have to go and study under Master Mirakian. After a year or so under Master Mirakian, he was promoted to Black Belt first deree (Shodan).

Several years later, he was awarded second degree (Nidan).

At the present time, Sensei Caporelli reports directly to Master Meitatsu Yagi Hanshi 10 degree. Master Yagi brought Sensei Caporelli up to the rank where he should have been at the present time of 9th Dan. Sensei Caporelli has attended celebrations of Great Gandmaster Meitoku Yagi in Okinawa Japan and has held serveral seminars here in the U.S.

Sensei Caporelli was successful in bringing most of the Goju-Ryu studios and their students together and work and meet for the first time. People came from many states and guests from Canada. It was a very successful seminar and everyone enjoyed the chance to meet each other. Sensei Caporelli attended many seminars in Canada with Master Meitatsu Yagi and his brother Meitetsu.

Sensei Caporelli has just returned home from Okinawa Japan for the celebration of Grandmaster Meitoku Yagi’s life and this was his 100th Anniversary. Sensei Caporelli was surprisingly award the rank of 9th degree black belt with the title of Hanshi “Master”. Master Caporelli is working very hard to promote the art of Meibukan Goju-Ryu.
